It’s Tuesday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
Most days I’m working from one of our private pods at ALCOVE, the productivity space I opened last fall. Our Park Slope location is designed to feel nothing like an office - more like your favorite café in Mexico City. It’s on the ground floor of a historic building filled with natural light, lush dracaena, exposed brick, vintage art, and textiles.
Our guests reserve a soundproof ALCOVE Pod to escape the chaos, whether they’re freelancers looking for a quiet place to write, founders taking investor calls, or parents sneaking in a moment of uninterrupted thinking. When I was consulting at McKinsey from my one-bedroom apartment, I needed exactly this. So I built it, alongside a team with veterans from Glossier, Soho House, SoulCycle, and other legendary consumer brands.

“There are so many uses for these [pods] that I could never have predicted. I wanted to leave it open-ended and not so much, ‘Here's your space to do your nine-to-five,’” Knight said. “We don't call this co-working because there's not really a ‘co-’ aspect to it. We’re defining a new category, which is private productivity. People don't necessarily need to have ping pong and a beer tap in order for it to be a functional and great experience for them to work.”
